EURECAT

Eurecat is the second Research & Technology Organisation in Spain and one of the largest applied research and technology transfer organisation in Southern

Europe. It brings together the experience of more than 800 professionals who generate an annual turnover of 69 million euros and provides services to more than 2,000 companies. Eurecat integrates advanced digital capabilities and experience in biotechnology, industry and sustainability and collaborates with industry in R+D+I activities and projects, offering advanced scientific and technological services and specialized knowledge to respond effectively to the technological needs of very different business sectors, accelerating innovation, reducing both risks and spendings on scientific and technological infrastructures. The technology center participates in more than 200 large national and international consortium projects of high strategic R&I, has 230 patents and 10 spin-offs. Eurecat has eleven centers in Catalonia and presence in Madrid, Malaga and Chile.

Job description

The Polymeric and Composites Processes Unit at Eurecat strives to improve compounding technologies and plastic processing carrying out research in plastics, composites, characterization, and analysis to enhance the design and get functional improvement.

Our PCP unit open different positions for Materials, Mechanical or Mechatronics students who are interested in developing their bachelor/master thesis in the polymeric and composites processes domain.

  1. Environmental Impact: the main goal will be to understand the essential environmental factors in the plastic transformation industry preparing a simplified methodology with rough tabulated values to have an initial comparative evaluation.
  2. Post Industrial Recycled Polymers: the main goal will be to determine the re processability grade of polymers keeping main properties that guarantee their functionality trying to set a correlation between polymer properties and its re-processability.
  3. Post Consumer Recycled Polymers: in order to determine the influence of post-consumer recycled polymers coming from different batches or sources on the injection molding process the student will work to stablish a correlation between polymer properties and its influence on process stability.
  4. Embedded organic photovoltaic cells (OPV): in order to improve the embedded OPV performance through the addition of micro-texture on the plastic surface the student will work on studying the effect of different texture types on the OPV performance such as diffusive textures, fresnel lent and guide light textures.
