Job description

Eurecat Product Innovation and Multiphysics Simulation Unit helps companies to design and develop technology for their new products by offering outstanding value propositions with a multidisciplinary vision that incorporates all Eurecat's technologies. Our Product Innovation and Multiphysics Simulation Unit experience includes smart objects, aeronautics, design of plastic parts and design for additive manufacturing among others. 

Considering the beneffits that numerical simulations and artificial intelligence bring to industrial sector we are opening a position to joir our team as a trainee researcher and develop the following PhD thesis AI simulation based key technology enablers for industrial applications.

This thesis will provide you skills in the study of the use of algorithms to hybridize AI and numerical simulation solutions (FEM and CFD), with the purpose of accelerating their response time. 

Functions and Responsibilities 

  • Identify use cases that allow to validate the solutions proposed in the project.
  • Generate and analyze the simulation scenarios required to provide data and feed the artificial intelligence algorithms, based on surrogate model strategies, autonomous mesh optimization and Industrial transfer learning.
  • Leading the development of scientific publications.
  • Participate in team meetings and attend congresses and conferences.
  • Carry out research and develop the doctoral thesis.
  • He/she will also be responsible for co-authoring the scientific papers that will form part of the PhD dissertation.

Requirements

Studies and Knowledge:

  • University degree in industrial engineering. 
  • Knowledge in FEM and CFD simulation 
  • Knowledge in reinforced learning and surrogate models 
  • Programming knowledge in Python will be valued 
  • Knowledge in CAD software will be valued 

Soft Skills:

  • Collaborative person able to work in a team of researchers. Also, able to work in an autonomous way.
  • Skills to communicate/document the results in a comprehensible and professional way.
  • High motivation for the research topic and strong compromise for work.
  • A certain degree of mobility is expected due to PhD requirements such as conferences and institutional visits. 

Languages:

  • High oral and written communication skills in English  
  • Knowledge of Catalan or Spanish is desirable.
