Job description

Research and production of bioactive compounds using scalable, cost efficiency and low enrionmental technologies to be used in the food industry.

 

PHD Description

The Mixed R&D&i Platform in Food Science and Technology, configured by the Nutrition and Health Unit of Eurecat - Centre Tecnològic de Catalunya - and the Universitat de Lleida (UdL), facilitates the development of join research projects and technology transfer initiatives to the agri-food production sector. 

In this way and according to share the strategic lines of R&D in food science and technology, the Platform is looking for a highly motivated researcher to work on the field of food technology.

The thesis will research into new food matrix enriched with nutritional high added value based on the characterization of their physical, chemical and technological properties. The candidate will also learn about meethods and technologies enabling to increase the extration and process kinetics while preserving the bioactive compounds by using scalable and assisted low environmental impact technologies in the food industry and studying the impact of structural modification of bioactive compounds and their feasibility to be used as ingredients in food formulation. 

Requirements

REQUIRED SKILLS:

  • MSc or BSc in Food Science and Technology.
  • Familiarity with food technology equipment, food pilot plant facilities.
  • Team spirit and ability to work independtly.
  • Excellent communication skills, flexibility and creativity.
  • Very good knowledge of English is required.
