Job description

“Boosting the Artificial Intelligence solutions training phase by means of process simulation methods”

PHD Description

The eHealth unit in collaboration with the units of Functional Printing and Product design at Eurecat Technology centre is looking for a highly motivated researcher to work in its flagship project Methodology, toolkits and decision support on wearable medical devices and points of care for defining disease natural history (MEDEA)

The candidate will work mainly for the MEDEA flagship project, dealing with the application of DL techniques for assessing images of anatomic pathology and histological analysis. The focus of this PhD is on the investigation of image processing tools to boost the training phase of AI-ML systems, specially DL solutions. This research will also collaborate in the motion analysis activities contemplated in the MEDEA project.

The research will focus on the scientific contribution and technological developments including:

  • Participate in the definition and development of new AI solutions for histologic analyses and pathologic anatomy.
  • Participate in the research activities for motion/gait analysis contemplated in the project.
  • Combine simulations and AI for diagnosing different conditions such as cancer, keratosis in the cornea and provide risk scores for injury in sports.
  • Investigate and optimize the training of the AI solutions by means of simulation tools with our GPU cluster.
  • Develop, validate and maintain code.
  • Lead, plan and execute demonstrations.
  • Participate and lead scientific publications.

Requirements

REQUIRED SKILLS:

 

  • MSc or BSc in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, Physics or related disciplines
  • Experience with python
  • Scientific programming skills
  • Team spirit and ability to work independently.
  • Problem solving capacities
  • Excellent communication skills, flexibility and creativity.
  • Very good knowledge of English is required.
  • Experience in Machine Learning
  • Experience in Big Data (Spark environment)
  • Eager to learn
