Analysis and development of models for assessing the impact of R&D activities from multidisciplinary perspective: economic, social, environmental, among others
PHD Description
The Technology Consultancy Department at Eurecat Technology Center is looking for a highly motivated researcher to work on the field of impact analysis considering different disciplines, and related to the R&D activities of a company, a research Center or even a region or country.
The candidate will work for the AVALUA internal innovation and research project. The thesis will research into the models for assessing the impact, specifically for the R&D&I activities, and the different focuses these analyses should take (economic, environmental, social, political…). The general goals of the thesis are to gain knowledge about potential perspectives on which to make an adequate impact assessment for the R&D activities and to define Eurecat's own logical model for the comprehensive assessment of the impact of R&D&I, in order to interrelate, among others, the economic, social and environmental perspectives. To achieve these aims, the candidate will deep into the existing impact assessment models and KPIs related to the R&D activities and propose an optimal impact assessment model considering different scopes of application: small (company R&D activities), medium (research centre, university…), and big (region or county).

Requirements
REQUIRED SKILLS:
• Minimum 70 points out of 100 (or equivalent) on the Master degree’s dissertation.
• Basic knowledge of data analysis software (Stata, R, Atlas.ti, NVivo, etc.).
• Team spirit and ability to work independently.
• Excellent communication skills, flexibility and creativity.
• Very good knowledge of English is required.

Our group has developed methodologies for the impact assessment of cultural spectacles, for the impact assessment of European R&D projects and for the introduction of innovative technologies in companies, mainly from economical point of view. Our intention is to integrate our previous experience in a research to develop a line of thinking and a methodology for analysing the impact of R&D activities, which is conceived from a holistic and systemic point of view, which includes contributions from multiple disciplines and methodologies, and which can be standardized.
