Job description

Quantum is a new research group in Eurecat devoted to the development of quantum software for solving real world problems. Our main focus is on implementing quantum machine learning algorithms.

 

Quantum research group is searching for a PhD student interested in developing his/her professional career as a researcher to join the team and produce a thesis in the quantum computing field. The thesis will be focus on the design and implementation of circuit-based quantum machine learning algorithms for solving computer vision problems such as multiclass classification.

 

Functions and Responsibilities

  • The PhD student will design and implement quantum algorithms
  • Participate and lead scientific publications
  • Provide R&D support to the other colleagues
  • Conducting the research, write drafts of scientific papers, and deliver a PhD thesis.

Requirements

Studies and Knowledge:

  • Holding a bachelor’s degree and a master in quantum Technologies 
  • Programming skills: the candidate must be versed in Python and Git. Other programming languages such as C++ will be positively valuated. 

Soft Skills:

  • The person who will join the team should be a team player and he/she can build collaborative relationships
  • He/she should also be able to work in an autonomous way and communicate/document the results in a comprehensible and professional way
  • He/she should be self – motivated and passionate about the project and he/she should have strong sense of curiosity and experimentation.
  • A certain degree of mobility is expected due to PhD requirements (Conferences and Institutional visits)

Languages:

  • High oral and written communication skills in English  
  • Knowledge of Catalan and/or Spanish are desirable
