Job description

The Advanced Manufacturing Systems Unit objective is fostering the research and innovation by carrying out technological assistance and provide technological transference on different areas such as ultrasounds, microwaves, 3D printing, machines and photonics. Main body of the unit work focuses on new high efficiency and productivity flexible manufacturing technologies to help companies to overcome the challenges faced in industry today.

 

The Advanced Manufacturing Systems Unit in partnership with the University of Girona (UdG) offers a PhD Fellowship starting in 2022.

 

The thesis will be focused in studying the additive tubular manufacturing processes for cardiovascular medical prostheses. To analyze the effect of process parameters such as material, speed, temperature, humidity, layer height, etc. on the final properties of cardiovascular prostheses and to carry out the pertinent mechanical, biological, and medical tests to examine these kind of prostheses at the in-vitro level.

 

Functions and Responsibilities:

 

  • Measuring, designing, and starting up experiments according to the research procedures to deeply analyze the producing process of cardiovascular protheses using tubular manufacturing processes. 
  • Conducting the research, write drafts of scientific papers, and deliver a PhD thesis.

Studies and Knowledge:

  • Holding a bachelors and master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or Biomedical Engineering

Soft Skills:

  • The person who will join the team should be a team player and he/she can build collaborative relationships
  • He/she should also be able to work in an autonomous way and communicate/document the results in a comprehensible and professional way
  • He/she should be self – motivated and passionate about the project and he/she should have strong sense of curiosity and experimentation.
  • A certain degree of mobility is expected due to PhD requirements (Conferences and Institutional visits)

Languages:

  • High oral and written communication skills in English
